Located 100 miles east of Memphis, 120 miles west of Nashville and 40 miles south of Interstate 40, McNairy County is convenient to Memphis, Nashville and Jackson, TN, Corinth and Tupelo, MS, and Florence, AL. Highway 45 offers four lanes north and south, and Highway 64 makes transit east and west fast and convenient. Highway 22, which runs north through Lexington, is in the process of being turned into a four-lane road to Interstate 40.

Major U.S. highways include Highway 45 passing through the city north to south and 64 crossing east to west. Many state roads run through McNairy County, including Highways 22, 57, 117, 199 and 234. The Norfolk Southern Railway has 20,000 miles of track in 22 states with service to every major Eastern seaport, 10 river ports, and 9 lake ports. Norfolk Southern runs throughout the Eastern U.S.—from Louisiana, to Kansas and Michigan, north to Maine, and along the East Coast. The Western Tennessee Railroad also runs through McNairy County, connecting Mississippi to Kentucky.

McNairy County has several airport options. Robert Sibley Airport, with its 5,002-foot asphalt runway, is 10 miles northeast of Selmer. McKellar-Sipes Airport in Jackson is the nearest commercial service airport. Memphis International Airport, home to FedEx Worldwide Headquarters, is less than 100 miles away.
